Helping You Build Inner Resilience
“When life breaks you, it is because you are ready to be put back together differently. Every piece of you that feels shattered is a piece that will find a new place, a new purpose, a new meaning. Trust that the cracks are where the light gets in. And sometimes, in our brokenness, we find our greatest wholeness. We find the courage to rebuild, to reimagine, to redefine what it means to be strong. You are not broken; you are breaking through.” -Author Unknown
Meet Heather
I’m a Master’s level limited license psychologist. I graduated from The Michigan School of Professional Psychology in 1997, formally known as the Center for Humanistic Studies. I have over 20 years experience as a therapist.
Additionally, I have an educational specialist degree and teaching certification from Eastern Michigan University and 28 years experience in education with a primary focus on special education and a concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorder.
I have been married for 25 years and together we have 6 amazing children. I enjoy the outdoors, reading and writing and have hopes of one day of becoming a published author.
I believe in the power of courage, hard work and persistence as the keys to achieving success. I understand that challenges are an inevitable part of life, but see them as opportunities to grow and build strength. With a mindset focused on energy and determination, I approach every task with unwavering commitment, refusing to give up in the face of setbacks. I believe that consistent effort, combined with mental and physical resilience, can overcome any obstacle. For me, the journey is as important as the destination, and each obstacle faced is a stepping stone toward greater personal strength and achievement.
If you would like to schedule an appointment, feel free to text or call (81O)-333-431O. I also offer free 15 minute consultations. Office hours are by appointment only.

Individual Counseling
Providing a safe and comfortable environment where you feel heard. Working one-on-one with a client to address personal concerns, emotional challenges, and mental health issues. The aim is to provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, gain insight into their problems, and develop coping strategies for dealing with life stressors or emotional difficulties. Counseling may focus on issues like anxiety, depression, relationship problems, grief, or personal growth, and can help clients improve their mental well-being and achieve personal goals.
Family/Couples Counseling
Sometimes there are differences of opinions that cause conflict in family systems. Meeting with an impartial third party often can help you find healing and healthy resolutions. Family and couples counseling is a form of therapy that involves working with multiple members of a family or a romantic couple to address relational issues, improve communication, and resolve conflicts. In family counseling, the therapist helps family members understand each other’s perspectives, strengthen bonds, and develop healthier ways of interacting. Couples counseling focuses on improving relationship dynamics, resolving disagreements, and enhancing emotional intimacy between partners. Both types of counseling aim to foster better understanding, reduce stress, and promote healthier, more supportive relationships.
Group Therapy/Counseling
Groups provide the opportunity for you to reach out to others and realize that you are never alone on this journey.Group counseling is a therapeutic process where a small group of people with similar issues or concerns meet regularly with a trained therapist. The group provides a supportive environment where participants can share experiences, offer feedback, and learn from each other. This type of counseling is beneficial for addressing common challenges such as anxiety, depression, addiction, or relationship issues. Group counseling helps individuals feel less isolated, build interpersonal skills, and gain new perspectives, while also offering a sense of community and shared understanding.
Life Coaching
Sometimes we all just need a champion in our corner. My goal is to provide the opportunity and sounding board you may need in any situation. Life coaching is a process in which a trained professional, known as a life coach, helps individuals achieve their personal and professional goals, overcome challenges, and improve their overall well-being. It involves a collaborative relationship where the coach supports the client in gaining clarity, setting actionable goals, and developing strategies to make positive changes in their life. Life coaches don’t give direct advice or solve problems for the client. Instead, they ask insightful questions, provide guidance, and help clients tap into their own potential. They focus on personal growth, confidence-building, and enhancing specific areas of life, such as relationships, career, health, and self-awareness. Cost is $100/hour.

Testimonials
The best part of my job is knowing I’ve helped my clients and their loved ones.
“I have been a client of Heather’s for over 2 years. I have learned how important self care is to every aspect of my life and relationships. I have improved confidence in myself. I have learned that I do matter and am valuable. I now have the tools to remind myself when I forget.
I am stubborn but Heather never wavers while helping me work through these lessons. She is kind and patient and has the ability to put even the most untrusting client at ease. Her sense of humor is just a bonus for me!”

“I offer my highest recommendation for Heather, who was our son’s teacher for four years, Special Olympics coach, and now friend. Heather’s approach to special needs individuals is unique. It’s proactive and individualized, and really reimagined what I thought my son should or could do.
When my son was 14, he was not adept at communicating, especially when scared or unhappy. Heather taught him to text and it opened a new outlet that made huge strides for his behavior. My son had extreme behavioral problems that have improved significantly. He can talk about how he feels.
Heather treats my son like an individual – although she is great at communicating with parents, she forms a connection with the autistic person, too. I believe that is why my son loves her so much. She can be challenging for kids, given they are trying new things, but the rewards are great. Her behavioral expertise fits with her psychology background on looking deeper for sources of problems.
One of my best memories is taking my son to the Special Olympics for the first time 10 years ago. He has been at each winter and summer games since. Heather and another teacher picked up me and my son. My son did not want to go and was poised to fall apart. We got in the car and no one spoke to allow calm. He texted with Heather and she told him what to expect. His picture on the podium winning a silver medal in swimming is my favorite. He was so proud and it’s something that never would have happened without Heather.
I could go on and on with the different ‘firsts’ my son has experienced because of Heather – riding the city bus, shopping alone, and working a few hours each week. She has changed his life and helped me with coping skills too..”

“I am incredibly grateful for Heather’s support throughout my pregnancy and birth journey. Her dedication went far beyond just educating me about childbirth; she truly cared for my mental well-being and was with me every step of the way. Heather’s compassionate approach helped me overcome my phobia of being pregnant and transformed what could have been a traumatic experience into something truly magical. Her encouragement and respect for my wishes made the entire experience worth living and gave me a renewed outlook and confidence. I can’t thank Heather enough for her exceptional care and for making this journey not only positive but also enchanting.”
